Domestic Adoption

Joe and I always talked about adopting when we were dating. God placed it on both our hearts after doing a missions trip in High School. Our plan was to eventually have two children of our own and adopt two. We did not know the timing or how financially this would all pan out. We were married for almost 6 years and I (Danelle) had just finished college. My plan was to work for a few years and then go back to school to get my masters. However, God’s timing was different. Joe had a sibling who was 6 months pregnant and was not prepared to raise the baby. We, without hesitation, said “yes” and had three months to plan for Dominic. When Dominic was 8 months old we found out I was 3 months pregnant with our daughter, Ariah. Those were all huge surprises and when we were getting back to balance in our life God surprised us with our third child, Jordan. Jordan is Dominic’s half brother and Joe’s sister was struggling to raise him. We got Jordan in a matter of a week at 8 1/2 months old. It all boils down to three wonderful children in three years! We never thought our adoption story would be within our own family. We assumed adoption would be later in life when finances were more concrete. Would we do it over again, would we be willing? YES and we are forever blessed to get to raise our nephews as our sons!
